Welcome to the SLN
The Safeguarding Leads Network (SLN) is a professional community committed to strengthening safeguarding standards across the private sector organisations delivering - or aspiring to deliver Official Development Assistance (ODA).
Established in May 2019, the network has grown to 54 member organisations, all of whom have signed the 2018 Private Sector Safeguarding Commitments to prevent and respond to sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH) or endorsed Common Approach to Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Sexual Abuse and Sexual Harassment (CAPSEAH).
SLN is financially supported by the FCDO and, since April 2026, has been funded through the CHS Alliance Pool Fund.
How we operate
Purpose and Membership
SLN brings together private sector suppliers of all sizes, from major international firms to medium‑sized organisations, specialist consultancies, and newly appointed framework suppliers. By uniting this diverse group, the network provides a dedicated space for sharing lessons, addressing challenges, and identifying opportunities to strengthen SEAH prevention and response across the aid and development sector.
SLN is the only body focused specifically on private sector safeguarding best practice, helping organisations learn from one another and build stronger connections with partners across the wider development community.
Our Role in the Sector
SLN plays a central role in shaping and promoting safeguarding excellence among private sector organisations delivering ODA. By fostering open dialogue, strengthening accountability, and encouraging continuous improvement, the network helps ensure that prevention and response to sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH) remains a core priority across all suppliers working with the UK government.
CHS Alliance Pool Fund
The PSEAH Fund, managed by the Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) Alliance, is designed to protect vulnerable individuals from sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH) by strengthening accountability, reinforcing trust with crisis‑affected communities, and safeguarding the integrity of humanitarian, development, and peace work. The SLN is funded through the CHS Alliance Pooled Fund.
By pooling resources from a wide range of investors, including governmental donors, international organisations, financial institutions, foundations, and private entities, the fund supports collective, evidence‑informed solutions to persistent sector‑wide challenges such as unchecked perpetrator movement, limited investigative capacity in high‑risk contexts, weak feedback mechanisms, and gaps in data and trend analysis.
Bringing these collective solutions under one coordinated fund enables more effective prioritisation, reduces duplication, and promotes long‑term alignment across global PSEAH initiatives, complementing and strengthening efforts such as CAPSEAH.
Meet the Coordination Group
-
The SLN is manage by a dedicated Programme Manager and supported by a coordination group (CG) made up of both volunteer representatives from across SLN member organisations and independent safeguarding advisors.
This collaborative structure enables SLN to provide technical guidance, convene learning spaces, and champion high standards of safeguarding across the private sector.
CG membership is reviewed annually.
